Napoleonic Marshal Kutusov – Borodino 1812 ((HWISNC029) Kutusov’s  military career was closely associated with the rising period of Russia from the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century. Kutuzov is considered to have been one of the best Russian generals for his defensive battle fought at Borodino, outside Moscow, in 1812. He fought Napoleon’s Grand Armee for a day, and saved the bulk of his army, which pursued and annihilated the French and their allies during their retreat from Russia that winter.
